Trivatech Group. Telecom and Data Consulting. Five poisonous thoughts you need to get rid of.

We’re firm believers that our emotions and our thoughts help shape the experiences we have. The problem with this is that many people tend to see the negative side of things without fully being aware of their negative thoughts. It’s almost as if being negative has become a habit, so it seems normal and natural to be negative all the time.

However, negativity breeds negativity, which ultimately leads to poor experiences in life. If you’re a Negative Nelly, read on to find out 12 of the most poisonous thought you need to drop today in order to achieve a better life. You may not even know you’re having them.

Poisonous Thought #1 – Thinking You’re a Victim

Stop it. You’re only a victim is you allow yourself to be. Stop laying blame for your problems on others or your circumstances. If you don’t like where you are at any particular time in your life, take responsibility and make the changes necessary to be somewhere else. Drop the victim mentality because no one is going to feel sorry for you, and it does nothing to help your situation. In fact, it actually hinders your success. It’s time to realize that you are the only one responsible for your own destiny.

Poisonous Thought #2 – Thinking You Can Change Others

You can’t change anyone that doesn’t want to change, so stop wasting your energy trying. Just as you are the only one capable of changing you, other people are responsible for making their own changes as well. If you don’t like someone “as they are,” then it’s up to you to decide if you want to be around them, but you don’t have the right to try to change them.

Poisonous Thought #3 – Thinking You Can Change the Unchangeable

Resisting “what is” and cannot be changed is a waste of valuable time and energy. For example, You cannot change the fact that you have to pay your rent or your mortgage each month, so why resist it? Furthermore, you can’t change that your boss is a jerk, so why bother? Of course, you can change jobs to get away from him, but you can’t change who he is. There are a lot of things you have the control to change in your life if you so choose, so take charge and change what you can, and learn to accept the things you cannot change.

Poisonous Thought #4 – Thinking the Grass is Always Greener…

“If only I were as pretty as my neighbor, I’d have nothing to worry about.” Or, “if only I had as much money as Pete, I’d be happier.” These kinds of thoughts are destructive, and simply not true. In fact, you really have no clue what their lives are like, and what you think they have being pretty and rich. Who knows? Maybe the pretty neighbor comes from an abusive home, or maybe Pete spends 80 hours or more a week and never sees his family just to have all those nice things. The grass is usually not greener on the other side of the fence, so learn to love the grass in your own yard.

Poisonous Thought #5 – Expecting too Much from Others

Expecting anyone else to do anything is detrimental to your happiness. Even if you think your expectations of them are reasonable, ultimately, you will probably end up being disappointed. For instance, expecting your roommate to do half the chores around the house. Just because you expect them to do it doesn’t mean they will. Your expectations aren’t anyone else’s priority, so decide if you can live with their behavior or move on.

Don’t let these thoughts dictate who you are, or who you want to be.

Have a GREAT weekend.

While I believe we are the best Consultant company for almost all your Telecom and Data needs here are a few quick tips on finding the correct Consultant for your organization.

A telecom consultant will evaluate and manage your company’s telecommunication needs and make recommendations on any upgrades or new technology to employ.

A good telecom consultant will help you save money and maximize your use of communication systems. These consultants will provide you with professional voice and data expertise, technical abilities, network knowledge and ideas to solve your telecom problems.

Choose a telecom consultant by reviewing their experience, checking case studies and references and evaluating how their fees and services will impact your company’s technology and its bottom line.

Find a telecom consultant that matches the size and needs of your own organization.                                                                                                                                                                   Look for a consultant with expertise that matches what your company needs. For example, if you want to completely overhaul your telecom system, find a consultant who has done that before.

You should review which fields and industries potential consultants have worked in.  For example, if your business is healthcare, look for a consultant who has worked for hospitals, pharmaceutical companies or insurance companies.

Trivatech Group. Telecom and Data Consulting. Team Collaboration.

Today’s workforce is growing increasingly digital as employees adopt team collaboration tools like cloud and mobile applications perform their job responsibilities. Companies today need to become digital organizations to adapt to these new ways of working.

“Sustainable market leadership is no longer based on the best product or people,” said ZK Research principal analyst Zeus Kerravala. “It’s all about making the best decision with the right people as fast as possible.”

However companies may find unified communications (UC) lacking when it comes to new ways of working and collaborating.

“A lot of people thought UC was the key to true collaboration,” he said. “As powerful as UC is, it doesn’t address collaboration in all the ways businesses need to work.”

UC is more focused on the individual with asynchronous tools and offers lackluster integration across apps, according to Kerravala.

That’s where team collaboration tools come into play. Team collaboration is focused on mobile-first, cloud centric organizations and offers synchronous and asynchronous apps with capabilities like persistent messaging and content sharing.

Kerravala said team collaboration is the combination of four markets: UC, enterprise messaging, enterprise social, and video and conferencing. This combination helps make employees more agile and productive.

But increased employee agility and productivity aren’t the only benefits of team collaboration. Team collaboration tools organize information by workflow or project so employees have easy access the relevant information they need and simplifies collaboration.

Let us bring your team together.

Trivatech Group. Telecom and Data Consulting. How to grill the perfect steak on Labor Day.

char-broil-how-to-grill-the-perfect-steak-done.jpg

Grilling a steak in the backyard is a great American pastime.  Enjoy it even more by knowing exactly how to grill the perfect steak.  This grilling guide will help you beef up your skills in no time.

Buy the Best

The most tender and flavorful steaks are Prime grade, but you won’t see them often at the grocery store. The next best quality is Choice. Good selections in the Choice grade are filets, rib eyes and porterhouse steaks. If you have access to a butcher, take advantage of their expertise. There are ranges within each grade and a butcher will know if your steak is at the top end of the Choice grade or the bottom. The top of the range will give you beef that’s very close to Prime quality.

Warm It Up

Make sure the steak is at indoor room temperature. If you put a cold steak on the grill, the exterior will burn before the interior cooks to the desired temperature. Do not let the steak sit at indoor room temperature for more than an hour before cooking.

Oil the Meat, Not the Grill

Spray oil is a griller’s best friend when it comes to cooking steak or any kind of skinless protein. An evenly applied coating of neutral oil such as vegetable or canola on both sides of the steak will ensure the steak doesn’t stick to the grill.

Get It Hot

Preheat your grill on high. And then do the hand test. Carefully put your hand over the grates. You shouldn’t be able to leave it there for more than two seconds. You want to hear that sizzle when the steak hits the grill. That high heat will give your steak a perfect crust.

Know When It’s Done

This is the most nerve-wracking aspect of learning to grill the perfect steak. Invest in a digital meat thermometer. It will take all the guesswork out of knowing when your steak is done. For rare steak, the internal temperature as measured in the middle of the steak is 125 degrees. For medium rare, it’s 130-135 degrees and well done is 155 degrees.

Let It Rest

Never cut into a steak that’s hot off the grill. Pull it off the heat, tent it with foil and let it rest about 8 minutes. While it is resting, the steak’s fibers will relax, the juices will redistribute back to the center and the temperature will come up.

Tip: If your steak is around 2 inches thick, it will continue to rise in temperature even when it’s off the grill. A good rule of thumb is to pull it off five degrees before target.

Happy grilling! Enjoy your Labor Day.

Two friends, Jim and Stew, had joined a big sales company together just after graduation. Both of them worked really hard.

Three years have passed and the company‘s director promoted one of them – Stew became sales executive. Jim did not get any promotion and remained at sales department.

Jim decided it wasn’t fair, so he came to his boss and told him, that he doesn’t appreciate a hard working staff. The boss knew that Jim works hard, and in order to show difference between him and Stew, he asked: Go and find anyone selling watermelons in the market. When Jim returned, the boss asked: „How much per kg?” So Jim went back to the market and then returned to say the price – $12 per kg.

Then the boss asked Stew the same thing. Stew went to the market, and when he returned he told: „at the moment there is one person selling watermelons, $12 per kg, $100 for 10 kg, now he has 340 watermelons in stock. On the table there are 48 water melons, each of them weighs about 15 kg. Water melons were bought from the South two days ago, they are fresh and good quality.

Jim was impressed by the difference between himself and Stew. He realized that he could learn a lot from his friend.

If you’re going to do it, do it right.. the first time.

Telecom and Data Consulting. Trivatech Group. Sip trunking is key for VoIP Migration

trivatech smaller

With voice over IP (VoIP) being a hot topic in the unified communications market, many businesses may be looking to migrate from a PSTN telecommunication provider to a SIP trunking provider. In some cases, a VoIP migration involves replacing the whole PBX system with a newer generation VoIP PBX, while some businesses might instead choose to keep costs down by interfacing their PBX with a SIP provider.

During this transition, IT departments are often overwhelmed with the issues that can arise. Here we will provide some key points that aim to make a VoIP migration as painless as possible.

PBXs that do not support SIP trunking will require a voice gateway to connect to their SIP provider. The voice gateway is placed between the PBX and SIP provider, connecting with the PBX on one end (usually using T1/E1 ISDN lines) and the SIP provider on the other end via IP:

PBXs that do not support SIP trunking will require a voice gateway to connect to their SIP trunking provider.FIREWALL.CX
It is important to ensure the voice gateway supports an equal amount of concurrent calls on both legs: SIP provider–voice gateway and voice gateway–PBX. The second leg, voice gateway to PBX, is where we usually find T1/E1 interfaces that provide a capacity of 24/32 concurrent calls respectively. If additional call capacity is required, multiple T1/E1 lines are installed, assuming the PBX can handle this capacity.

Selecting the right SIP service provider is one of the most important steps. The SIP provider must provide a stable service without interruptions, but must also own the physical delivery medium to the company’s premises, also known as the last mile, in order to guarantee quality of service (QoS).

Redundancy is imperative, especially for SIP trunks with large session counts. For session counts exceeding 20 (equivalent of a T1 connection — 24 channels) or 30 (equivalent of an E1 connection — 32 channels), it is recommended to have one SIP trunk on standby.

If the SIP session count exceeds 500 (equivalent of a T3 connection — 672 channels), then it is recommended to have separate SIP trunk entry points into the network. In some cases, the redundant SIP entry point can also be at different geographical areas. If the SIP trunk is down at one site, the SIP provider can temporarily route calls from that site through the SIP trunk of a nearby site.

If migrating to VoIP involves replacing a whole telephony infrastructure, extra caution is needed to guarantee a smooth switch to the new system.

Never rush into a production deployment. Set up the new VoIP infrastructure parallel to the existing PSTN/analog system. This strategy will give the company time to test the new system, decide on call flows and make adjustments to user rights and other VoIP services.

Also heed the network infrastructure. Voice packets must be in their own separate VLAN, usually named the voice VLAN. Network switches and routers must have QoS enabled and configured to prioritize the processing and delivery of voice packets.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) is another important feature to consider in a VoIP migration. If the local network switches support PoE or there are plans to replace them with PoE-capable switches, note the power requirements of each IP phone and ensure the switchport is able to meet them. In addition, the total power requirement per switch will depend on the number of IP phones connected to it, and this should not exceed the PoE budget the switch is able to deliver.

Trivatech Group. Telecom and Data Consultants. How to buy Telecom and Data.

Understanding the Telecom and Data business

The key to making a good decision is in how the telecommunications and data business works.

A point to make here is that the provider contracts with your company to provide a certain suite of services at a certain level of performance.  Many terms and conditions of newer contracts with providers are listed on a web page, how easy is it for the carrier to change the terms ?

And what about carriers consolidating and merging ?  Will your direct representative be with that carrier in 3 months ?  A year ?

How about care for you after the sale ?

Is it a local office ?  A call center ?

Can the direct carrier representative actually assist you, or do they get paid once to sell and move on ?

trivatech smaller

The Truth

Carrier direct representatives likely will not be employed for more than 18 months. You are left with a contract and no advocate to assist you. Most likely a  call center out of state and an 800 number to reach a cryptic system where you punch in your account number and then have to repeat yourself 3 times to get an answer, and usually they will insult you and claim the problem is on your end of the connection.

How can a prospective client sort through 3 or 4 providers information and make an educated decision about a provider at contract renewal time ?

Well frankly you can dedicate the next few weeks to research, study and reviewing terms and conditions, service level agreements (SLA) and calling current clients of the prospective vendors. Or just call an independent consultant in your area.

The Solution

Call an independent telecom consultant, who knows the available providers, the services available and negotiates many telecom contracts every year.

Telecom consultants are experts,  and with all the change in the carrier space, consultants  have  direct connections to carriers.   Many clients just like you who turn to telecom consultants for answers, recieving a live local response to their needs.

Independent telecom consultants work for you.  When  hired they are  paid to assist you and to make sure you receive what you are paying for.  In many cases the independent consultant will not get paid unless your services are installed and invoices continue to be paid.

Telecom consultants are paid to assist you today, and when it’s contract renewal time.  Independents are responsive, timely and know each and every carrier that is available for you to choose from.

In many cases they search for 3-5 quotes to source your services.  They continue to earn your business every month when you pay your invoice.  In addition the independent consultant will analyze your needs BEFORE suggesting a certain product or service.

Why Not ?

Why not try buying your products and services the smart way ?

Trivatech Group. Telecom and Data Consulting. Gene Wilder. “Good day, sir”

Image result for gene wilder

Gene Wilder, the Hollywood legend who starred in such films as “Blazing Saddles,” “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory” and “Stir Crazy” has died. He was 83 years old. According to the actor’s nephew, Jordan Walker-Pearlman, Wilder’s death was due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease.

Some of Wilder’s best roles were in films directed by Mel Brooks, such as “The Producers” and “Young Frankenstein.” “We are not interested in polite titters, we want the audience rolling on the floor and falling about. Mel works on his feet — it’s a hit and miss, hit and miss, hit and miss. Then in the editing he will take out the misses,” Wilder once said of working with Brooks.

While the actor is now gone, he has left us with memorable quotes from his long career. Here are some quotes from Wilder’s personal life and his career.

  • “I’m not so funny. Gilda [Gilda Radner] was funny. I’m funny on camera sometimes. In life, once in a while. Once in a while. But she was funny. She spent more time worrying about being liked than anything else.”
  • “I never thought of it as God. I didn’t know what to call it. I don’t believe in devils, but demons I do because everyone at one time or another has some kind of a demon, even if you call it by another name, that drives them.”
  • “So my idea of neurotic is spending too much time trying to correct a wrong. When I feel that I’m doing that, then I snap out of it.”
  • “If I can make my wife laugh, I know I’m on the right track.”
  • “It’s all there, black and white, clear as crystal! You stole fizzy lifting drinks! You bumped into the ceiling which now has to be washed and sterilized, so you get nothing! You lose! Good day, sir!” (“Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory”)
  • “Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker.” (“Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory”)
  • “Come with me and you’ll be, in a world of pure imagination, take a look and you’ll see, into your imagination.” (“Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory”)
  • “If you’re not gonna tell the truth, then why start talking?”
  • “The suspense is terrible. I hope it’ll last.” (“Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory”)
  • “Invention, my dear friends, is 93% perspiration, 6% electricity, 4% evaporation, and 2% butterscotch ripple.” (“Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory”)
  • “What did you expect? Welcome, sonny? Make yourself at home? Marry my daughter? You’ve got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know… morons.” (“Blazing Saddles”)
  • “If the good lord intended us to walk, he never would’ve invented roller skates.” (“Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory”)
  • “But Charlie, don’t forget what happened to the man who suddenly got everything he always wanted… He lived happily ever after.” (“Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory”).                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              A legend that will be missed.                                                                                                      “Good day, sir!”

We’ve all done it — made that one mistake and hoped nobody saw it, prayed that it wouldn’t have a horrible effect on the systems or the network. And it’s usually okay, so long as the mistake didn’t happen in the data center. It’s one thing to let your inner knucklehead come out around end user desktop machines. But when you’re in the server room, that knucklehead needs to be kept in check. Whether you’re setting up the data center or managing it, you must always use the utmost caution.

Well, you know what they say about the best laid plans… Eventually you will slip up. But knowing about some of the more common mistakes can help you avoid them.

1: Cable gaffes

You know the old adage — measure twice, cut once. How many times have you visited a data center to see cables everywhere? On the floor, hanging down from drop ceilings, looped over server racks and over desks. This should simply not happen. Cable layout should be given the care it needs. Not only is it a safety hazard, it is also a disaster waiting to happen. Someone gets tangled up and goes down — you run the risk of a law suit AND data loss, all because someone was too lazy to measure cable runs or take the time to zip tie some Cat5.

2: SPILLS!!

I know, this might seem crazy, but I’ve witnessed it first hand too many times. Admins (or other IT staff) enter the data center, drink in hand, and spill that drink onto (or into) a piece of equipment. In a split second, that equipment goes from life to death with no chance for you to save it. Every data center should have a highly visible sign that says, “No drink or food allowed. Period.” This policy must be enforced with zero tolerance or exception. Even covered drinks should be banned.

3: Electrical failures

This applies to nearly any electricity problem: accidentally shutting off power, lack of battery backups, no generator, pulling too much power from a single source. Electricity in the data center is your only means of life. Without it, your data center is nothing. At the same time, electricity is your worst enemy. If you do not design your electrical needs in such a way as to prevent failures, your data center begins its life at a disadvantage. Make sure all circuit breakers (and any other switch that could cause an accidental power loss) have covers and that your fire alarms and cutoff switches are not located where they might tempt pranksters.

4: Security blunders

How many keys to your data center have you given out? Do you have a spreadsheet with every name associated with every key? If not, why? If you aren’t keeping track of who has access to the data center, you might as well open up the door and say, “Come steal my data!” And what about that time you propped the exit door open so you could carry in all of those blades and cable? How much time was that open door left unattended? Or what about when you gave out the security code to the intern or the delivery man to make your job easier…. See where this is going?

5: Pigpen presentation

When you step into data center, what is the first thing you see? Would you bring the CEO of the company into that data center and say, “This is the empire your money has paid for?” Or would you need a day’s notice before letting the chairman of the board lay eyes on your work?

6: Document everything(!)

How exactly did you map out that network? What are the domain credentials and which server does what? If you’re about to head out for vacation, and you’ve neglected to document your data center, your second in command might have a bit of drama on his or her hands. Or worse, even you’ve forgotten the domain admin credentials. I know, I know — fat chance.  But there’s this guy named Murphy. He has this law. You know how it goes. If you’re not documenting your data center, eventually the fates will decide it’s time to deal you a dirty hand and you will have a tangled mess to sift through.

7: Desktop fun

How many times have you caught yourself or IT staff using one of the machines in the data center as a desktop? Unless that machine is a Linux or Mac desktop, one time is all it takes to send something like the sexy exe virus running rampant through your data center. Yes, an end user can do the same thing. But why risk having that problem originate in the heart of your network topology? Sure, it’d be cool to host a LAN party in your data center and invite all your buds for a round of CoD or WoW. Just don’t.

8: Forgotten commitments

When was the last time you actually visited your data center? Or did you just “set it and forget it”? Do you think that because you can remote into your data center everything is okay? Shame on you. That data center needs a regular visit. It doesn’t need to be an all-day tour. Just stop by to check batteries, temperature, cabling, etc. If you fail to give the data center the face time it needs, you could wind up with a disaster on your hands.

9: Tourist traps

You’re proud of your data center — so much so, you want to show it off to the outside world. So you bring in the press; you allow tours to walk through and take in its utter awesomeness. But then one of those tourists gets a bit too curious and down goes the network. You’ve spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on that data center (or maybe just tens of thousands —- or even just thousands). You can’t risk the prying eyes and fingers of the public to gain access to the tenth wonder of the world.

10: Midnight massacre

Don’t deny it: You’ve spent all-nighters locked in your data center. Whether it was a server rebuild or a downed data network, you’ve sucked down enough caffeine that you’re absolutely sure you’re awake enough to do your job and do it right. Famous. Last. Words. If you’ve already spent nine or 10 hours at work, the last thing you need to do is spend another five or 10 trying to fix something. Most likely you’ll break more things than you fix. If you have third-shift staff members, let them take care of the problem. Or solve the issue in shifts. Don’t try to be a hero and lock yourself in the data center for “however long it takes.” Be smart.

Ttivatech group can help avoid these and so many more costly errors.
